Eric Robnett is an Afro/Brazilian percussionist. He has travel led all over the world playing and learning the rhythms and cultures of many countries including Brazil, Haiti , Puerto Rico ,and even Korea. His classes have a totally cool and engaging attack on students as they are stimulated in the learning of rhythms ,culture, and teamwork skills. SCHOOL CLASS CHOICES
Instrument Making:
This class makes drums , shakers , and the brazilian one stringed instrument called "Berimbau" this class teaches resourcefulness,craftsmanship, self-esteem.
Music Class:
Students learn authentic and popular rhythms from Africa, Cuba , Brazil and Latin America. Some empahsis will be dedicated to hip hop and other popular rhythms.
One-Minute Performance:
Students are divided into teams , given instruction , and sent out for 20 minute practice. There mission is to come back and perform a one minute performance. After the performance , the students are engaged in discussion as to how they were able to work as a team and pull off the performance.
Survey of World Music:
Music from around the world is played while students have paper and drawing tools . They draw what they feel to each piece of music.This exercise oftentimes reveals the stereotypical attitudes toward or impressions of races and cultures, which can then be used to discuss and overcome cultural assumptions.
